Islamabad Traffic Diversions Announced for April 11–12 Due to Foreign Delegation Visit

Authorities in Islamabad have announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for April 11 and 12 in response to the arrival of a foreign delegation. The measures aim to ensure security and smooth arrangements during the high-profile visit, but are expected to impact daily commuters across the city.

According to officials, all roads leading to and from the Red Zone will remain completely closed during both days. In addition, a major stretch of the Islamabad Expressway—from Zero Point to Koral Chowk—will also be closed in both directions, significantly affecting traffic flow.

To minimize disruption, authorities have issued alternative routes for commuters. Travelers coming from GT Road are advised to use Taxila Mor, Chakri, and Chak Beli Road to access the motorway. Those commuting from sectors G-6, F-6, and G-5 towards Rawalpindi should use Ninth Avenue as an alternative route.

Similarly, people traveling from Bhara Kahu and Murree have been instructed to use Bani Gala and Lehtrar Road instead of the closed routes. Inter-city travelers have also been given guidance, with routes specified for those traveling between Peshawar, Lahore, and Islamabad.

The traffic plan will remain in effect for two days, and authorities have urged citizens to plan their journeys in advance, avoid restricted areas, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

Residents and travelers are expected to face temporary inconvenience, especially near the Red Zone and key highways, but these arrangements are essential for ensuring security during the visit.
