Pakistan’s armed forces carried out precision airstrikes in Afghanistan late on March 16 as part of a military operation named Operation Ghazab Lil Haq.
According to officials, the strikes targeted locations in Kabul and Nangarhar Province, focusing on sites allegedly linked to militant activities.
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed the operation, stating that the strikes were aimed at facilities associated with militant networks operating against Pakistan.
He said that key infrastructure, including ammunition depots and technical facilities, was destroyed in Kabul. According to him, strong secondary explosions indicated the presence of large weapons stockpiles at the targeted sites.
Additional strikes were carried out in Nangarhar, where logistics hubs and storage facilities were also reportedly hit.
Pakistani authorities stated that the operation was highly precise, targeting only specific militant-linked infrastructure.
Officials linked the targeted sites to groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and Balochistan Liberation Army, which they claim have been operating from Afghan territory.
Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban of allowing these groups to use its territory to carry out activities against Pakistan.
However, the Afghan Taliban rejected these claims, stating that the strikes hit a civilian location.
According to Afghan officials, a drug rehabilitation centre was among the sites affected, and they reported civilian casualties as a result of the strikes.
Pakistani security sources dismissed these allegations, calling them misleading and reiterating that only militant-linked targets were struck during the operation.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over cross-border security and militant activity.
