Pakistan pushes for de-escalation as Ishaq Dar engages Gulf, Middle East counterparts

Pakistan has stepped up its diplomatic efforts to promote peace in the Middle East, as Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held key discussions with regional counterparts to reduce tensions and encourage dialogue.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar spoke separately with officials from Bahrain, Egypt, and Iran, focusing on the evolving regional situation and the urgent need for de-escalation.

During these discussions, Pakistan emphasized diplomacy as the only viable path to stability, highlighting ongoing multilateral efforts, including initiatives at the United Nations Security Council.

Officials also discussed the possibility of facilitating direct talks between the United States and Iran, with Islamabad being considered as a potential venue for negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts and expressed willingness to engage in dialogue, reinforcing Islamabad’s role as a neutral facilitator.

The diplomatic push comes amid escalating tensions in the region following ongoing conflict dynamics, which have impacted global stability and energy markets.

Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement with all stakeholders, aiming to promote peace, stability, and cooperation through dialogue and diplomatic channels.
