Pakistan Warns UN About Terrorist Groups Operating from Afghan Soil

Pakistan has once again raised concerns at the United Nations regarding terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory, warning that such activities pose a serious threat to regional and international security.

During a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized that Pakistan supports the vision of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. However, he highlighted growing concerns over the presence and activities of terrorist groups allegedly operating from Afghan soil.

According to the Pakistani envoy, these militant groups not only threaten Pakistan’s national security but also represent a broader danger to international peace and stability.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad stressed that the implementation of the Doha Agreement on Afghanistan remains the most viable path toward achieving long-term peace and stability in the region. He stated that strict adherence to the agreement is essential to prevent further instability and ensure progress in Afghanistan.

During his address, the Pakistani representative also accused the Taliban authorities of launching an unprovoked attack on Pakistan on February 26. He said Pakistan responded with a retaliatory operation targeting hostile elements and terrorist groups responsible for the aggression.

The envoy further claimed that Afghanistan has effectively become a safe haven for several militant organizations. According to him, terrorists are using Afghan territory to plan and carry out attacks against Pakistan.

He also alleged that militants crossing the border from Afghanistan have been involved in attacks that resulted in the loss of innocent Pakistani lives.

Additionally, Pakistan’s envoy revealed that security forces recovered foreign-made weapons from militant groups during recent counter-terrorism operations. This discovery, he said, indicates possible external support for these militant networks and highlights the seriousness of the security threat.

Pakistan urged the international community to take note of the situation and support efforts aimed at eliminating terrorist threats in the region.

The Pakistani representative emphasized that regional peace and stability depend on preventing terrorist groups from using Afghan territory as a base for launching attacks against neighboring countries.
