ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has announced an increase in petroleum product prices, adding further financial pressure on the public. The revised prices came into effect from midnight on March 1 and will remain applicable for the next 15 days.
According to an official notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs8 per litre following a recommendation by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). With this adjustment, petrol has risen from Rs258.17 per litre to Rs266.17 per litre.
Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs5.16 per litre. Diesel, which was previously priced at Rs275.70 per litre, will now be available at Rs280.86 per litre.
Petrol is primarily used by motorcycles, cars, and small vehicles, meaning the increase will directly impact daily commuters. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel is widely used in the transport and agriculture sectors, and the revised prices may contribute to higher transportation costs and inflationary pressure.
The new rates will remain effective for the next fortnight. The government will review petroleum prices again based on international oil market trends and OGRA’s recommendations.
