PMD Forecasts Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms and Hail Across Pakistan in Next 24 Hours

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert predicting widespread rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across Pakistan in the next 24 hours.

According to the latest forecast, strong winds and heavy rainfall are expected in several regions, including Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Other areas such as Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are likely to experience scattered rain and thunderstorms, especially during evening and nighttime hours.

The Met Office has warned that heavy downpours may lead to flash flooding in parts of northeastern Balochistan, particularly in districts like Zhob, Musakhel, and Dera Bugti. Hill torrents are also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, raising concerns for nearby communities.

In southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rainfall with possible hailstorms is predicted, while northern areas may even witness snowfall over higher elevations.

Authorities have highlighted the risks associated with strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms, which could damage infrastructure such as electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels. Agricultural lands may also suffer losses as standing crops remain exposed to extreme weather conditions.

In Islamabad, partly cloudy weather is expected with chances of rain and thunderstorms later in the day.

Citizens are advised to stay cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and follow official updates to ensure safety.
