The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold its official meeting today in Peshawar to sight the moon marking the beginning of Ramazan in Pakistan.
The committee will carefully observe the moon to determine the official start of the holy month of fasting. Religious scholars, government officials, and media representatives are expected to attend the meeting to ensure transparency in the process.
According to officials from SUPARCO, astronomical data suggests a strong possibility of moon sighting. The new moon was born on Tuesday at 5:01 PM Pakistan Standard Time, making it approximately 25 hours and 48 minutes old at sunset today — a factor that increases the likelihood of visibility to the naked eye.
The final decision regarding the sighting will be formally announced by the Chairman of the committee, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.
The sighting of the Ramazan moon is a highly anticipated event across Pakistan, as it signals the beginning of a sacred month dedicated to fasting, prayer, reflection, and community unity for millions of Muslims.
Citizens across the country are eagerly awaiting the official announcement to begin observing the first fast.
