Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has strongly reacted to the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both sides to choose peace over conflict during the holy month of Ramadan.
In his statement, Afridi criticized the recent cross-border developments and described them as a serious mistake, especially during a sacred time meant for prayer, patience, and unity. He expressed disappointment over the growing tension and said such actions harm regional peace and stability.
Afridi emphasized that Pakistan has always tried to maintain good relations with Afghanistan and has extended support to its people during difficult times. However, he stressed that while Pakistan seeks peace, it will not allow anyone to test its patience or ignore its security concerns.
He also appreciated the swift and responsible response of Pakistan’s security forces, stating that the armed forces acted to protect the country’s borders and citizens. According to Afridi, the nation stands united with its military when it comes to defending the homeland.
The former cricketer further highlighted that several friendly Muslim countries had advised calm and dialogue, yet tensions escalated. He warned that following external agendas or creating instability in the region would only result in harm and failure.
Afridi’s message was clear — Pakistan wants peace, but not at the cost of its safety. He urged both sides to respect the spirit of Ramadan and resolve differences through dialogue rather than conflict.
His remarks reflect concern for national security as well as Muslim unity, with hope that peace will soon prevail in the region.
