The Sindh government has announced a major relief package for motorcycle users by introducing a Rs2,000 petrol subsidy for each registered bike in the province.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Murad Ali Shah said the initiative aims to support bikers affected by the recent surge in fuel prices.
The announcement comes after a sharp increase in petrol and diesel rates across Pakistan, which has significantly raised transportation costs and added financial pressure on daily commuters.
According to the government, Sindh has approximately 6.7 million registered motorcycles, making this subsidy a large-scale relief measure expected to benefit millions of citizens.
The chief minister emphasized that motorcyclists are among the most affected groups, as they rely heavily on petrol for everyday travel. The subsidy is intended to provide immediate financial relief to this segment of the population.
To ensure transparency, the government has introduced a registration and verification process. Only owners of registered motorcycles who complete the required steps will be eligible to receive the subsidy.
The move reflects the provincial government’s effort to ease the burden of inflation and rising fuel costs, particularly for low- and middle-income groups.
This targeted relief initiative is part of broader measures being taken to support citizens during ongoing economic challenges caused by global fuel price fluctuations.
