Sargodha (Soon Times): Commissioner Nabil Javed has directed to increase the number of sugar, fruit and vegetable stalls in Ramadan bazaars and also to ensure availability of subsidized flour in the general markets. Instructed to set up stalls. He also directed to take full action against the vehicles transporting wheat till the target is achieved across the division. He was addressing a review meeting on Ramadan bazaars, availability of fertilizers, procurement of wheat, crushing, prices of essential food items and supply and demand, progress on public welfare measures of the Chief Secretary and governance. The meeting was attended by DCs etc. of the four districts and officers of the market committee. The Commissioner was informed that as per the quota fixed in the cheap Ramadan bazaars established across the division, 385,010 kg bags of flour have been sold so far. A briefing on wheat procurement campaign was also given in the meeting. It was informed that 15,885 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured in just seven days as compared to 270,000 metric tonnes fixed by the four districts. In order to curb the illegal movement of wheat, 16 vehicles have been seized in a week and 235 metric tons of wheat has been delivered to the procurement centers. The meeting also reviewed in detail the prices of other essential commodities including vegetables, fruits and pulses. In the meeting, the four Deputy Commissioners gave a detailed briefing on the steps to be taken by various departments in a week regarding the public welfare measures of the Chief Secretary Punjab.
