TTAP Urges Government to Consult Parliament and Opposition on Defence Agreements

The Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) has urged the government to consult both the opposition and Parliament when making decisions regarding defence agreements and national security policies.

The demand was made through a resolution passed during a joint parliamentary meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other opposition parties at the Parliament House in Islamabad.

According to the resolution, opposition leaders stressed the importance of developing a national consensus on matters related to defence and foreign policy. They argued that decisions of such national significance should involve consultation with all major political stakeholders.

The resolution was shared publicly through a post on TTAP’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting concerns over the current regional security environment.

Participants at the meeting expressed deep concern over the evolving geopolitical situation, particularly ongoing tensions in the Middle East and developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The resolution also condemned recent military actions carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, stating that these developments have further escalated tensions in the region.

Opposition leaders emphasized that unilateral decisions by the government on defence agreements could undermine national unity during a sensitive period of regional instability.

They called for parliamentary debate and consultation to ensure transparency and collective decision-making on issues affecting Pakistan’s national security and foreign policy.

The meeting also discussed broader implications of regional conflicts, including potential impacts on Pakistan’s diplomatic relations and security environment.

TTAP leaders stressed that involving Parliament and opposition parties in such decisions would strengthen democratic processes and promote a unified national stance on defence and international affairs.

The resolution concluded by urging the government to adopt a consultative approach when dealing with strategic defence matters, ensuring that all stakeholders are part of the decision-making process.
