TTAP Ends Sit-In, Demands Uninterrupted Medical Access for Imran Khan

The opposition alliance, Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP), on Wednesday announced the conclusion of its prolonged sit-in outside Parliament House, staged over concerns regarding the health of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Despite ending the protest, TTAP reaffirmed its key demand that Imran Khan be granted uninterrupted access to his personal doctors and allowed private meetings with his family during his incarceration.

Earlier in the day, senior TTAP leaders visited the Supreme Court to express solidarity with Imran Khan during hearings related to his ongoing legal cases. According to TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, prominent leaders including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan attended the proceedings.

The alliance has announced plans to hold a press briefing after returning from the court to outline its future course of action, including its response to measures taken against PTI supporters.

Ahead of the hearings, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi met with Imran Khan’s sisters — Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and Uzma Khanum — to discuss his health condition and related judicial matters.

TTAP had earlier presented five major demands. Central among them was the request that Imran Khan’s personal physicians, Dr. Aasim Yusuf and Dr. Faisal Sultan, be permitted to conduct independent medical examinations. The alliance also demanded full access to medical reports, scans, laboratory results, and regular follow-up checkups without interference from the government-appointed medical board.

Family members and PTI leaders have repeatedly sought permission to meet Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, though several visits were reportedly denied. Following a Supreme Court directive issued on February 10, PTI lawyer Salman Safdar was appointed as a friend of the court and granted access to meet him.

Medical reports indicate that Imran Khan experienced limited vision in his right eye following a medical procedure on January 24. Subsequent assessments conducted on February 15 suggested partial improvement. However, his family and TTAP rejected the findings and reiterated their demand for continuous monitoring by his personal doctors.

TTAP described the sit-in as a constitutional and peaceful protest aimed at ensuring transparency regarding Imran Khan’s health and safeguarding his legal rights.
