JI Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman Urges Pakistan to Quit Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has called on the Pakistani government to withdraw from what he described as the “so-called Board of Peace (BoP),” strongly criticising former US President Donald Trump and warning of serious regional consequences.

Speaking during a press conference in Islamabad, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman accused the United States and Israel of waging war against Iran and committing human rights violations. He claimed that Iran was being targeted due to its support for Gaza in the ongoing conflict with Israel.

The JI chief alleged that at least 165 schoolgirls were killed during the early phase of the hostilities. He described the actions of Washington and Tel Aviv as criminal and urged Muslim-majority nations to show solidarity with Iran during the crisis.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman warned that Israel’s broader strategic objectives extend beyond Iran and could eventually threaten Pakistan as well. According to him, the conflict carries implications for Pakistan’s security and its nuclear capabilities.

“This is not only Iran’s war; it concerns Pakistan as well,” he said, stressing that Israel must be confronted within Iran to prevent the expansion of its influence across the region.

He further warned that if regime change were imposed in Iran and a compliant government installed, Israeli influence could reach Pakistan’s borders.

The JI chief appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to acknowledge that Pakistan’s participation in the Board of Peace was a mistake and urged the government to withdraw from the arrangement alongside other Islamic countries.

Commenting on a protest outside the US Consulate in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem criticised the authorities’ response to demonstrators. He questioned the use of force against protesters and said that law enforcement agencies had alternative crowd-control methods available.

He stated that no authority had the right to open direct fire on demonstrators and demanded accountability from both the Sindh government and the federal government. He also called for clarification regarding reports suggesting that US Marines were involved in the firing.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also commented on the ongoing tensions, stating that the broader agenda behind the Iran conflict could allow Israeli influence to extend toward Pakistan’s borders. In a post on X, he warned that the strategic ambitions of Western allies could pose serious risks to Pakistan’s national security.
