A tragic gas cylinder explosion in Karachi turned deadly after a massive fire broke out in a residential high-rise building in North Nazimabad on Sunday. The powerful blast resulted in the death of a teenage boy and left five others injured, several of them in critical condition.

The explosion occurred inside a flat on the 10th floor of an apartment complex located near Hyderi, one of the busiest residential zones in the area. According to initial reports, the gas cylinder blast caused severe structural damage and triggered an intense blaze that rapidly spread across the upper floors of the building.

Eyewitnesses described the blast as extremely powerful, shaking the building and surrounding structures. Multiple flats sustained heavy damage due to the explosion.

Key impacts included:

  • Severe damage to at least two apartments on the 10th floor

  • Structural damage extending to a ninth-floor flat

  • Collapse of the building’s lift due to blast intensity

  • Several vehicles damaged by falling debris

  • Panic among residents due to rapid fire spread

Authorities confirmed that the victim, identified as 15–16-year-old Burhan, was recovered from the debris after rescue teams managed to control the blaze.


Rescue Operation and Emergency Response

Rescue teams and firefighters responded immediately after receiving emergency calls. A large-scale firefighting operation was launched to prevent further destruction.

The operation involved:

  • Four fire tenders

  • One water bowser

  • Two snorkel vehicles

  • Police security deployment

  • Disconnection of electricity supply as a safety precaution

All residents of the building were safely evacuated during the emergency response. Police cordoned off the area to assist rescue teams and ensure public safety.


Casualties and Medical Condition

Five individuals sustained injuries in the incident, including:

  • One woman
