Asif Ali Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif Stress Enforcement of Constitution of Pakistan 1973 for Strong Democracy

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have emphasized the need for full enforcement of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 to ensure a strong democratic system and national unity.

In their messages on Constitution Day, both leaders described the Constitution as the foundation of Pakistan’s political and legal framework. President Zardari stated that the Constitution reflects the country’s democratic identity, federal structure, and commitment to protecting citizens’ rights.

He highlighted that the Constitution was formulated under the leadership of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and represents a historic national consensus. According to him, true democracy and justice can only be achieved through strict adherence to constitutional principles.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the Constitution as a sacred social contract between the state and its citizens. He noted that it clearly defines the rights and responsibilities of both and provides the basis for Pakistan’s parliamentary democratic system.

He further emphasized that the Constitution guarantees fundamental human rights and ensures an organized administrative framework across the country. He also appreciated the role of provinces in strengthening unity, development, and governance under the federal system.

Other national leaders also echoed similar views, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Yousaf Raza Gillani, and Ayaz Sadiq, who stressed that the Constitution plays a crucial role in ensuring democratic stability, transparency, accountability, and national harmony.

The statements underline a collective commitment among Pakistan’s leadership to uphold constitutional values as a cornerstone for a stable and prosperous democratic future.
