Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening Pakistan–Qatar relations and elevating their economic partnership to a higher strategic level during high-level discussions in Doha.
The leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, expressing satisfaction over the growing political engagement between the two countries. They emphasized the importance of translating strong diplomatic ties into tangible economic outcomes through enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and manpower exports.
Sheikh Tamim reiterated Qatar’s commitment to deepening economic collaboration, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored Pakistan’s investment-friendly environment and reform initiatives aimed at attracting foreign capital. Both sides agreed to further institutionalize cooperation through structured mechanisms, including the Pakistan–Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission and the Pak-Qatar Joint Business Taskforce.
Regional and Security Dialogue
The two leaders also discussed key regional and international developments, including evolving situations in Iran and Afghanistan. They emphasized dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution of disputes as essential pillars for ensuring regional stability.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with Qatar. Both sides acknowledged the longstanding military collaboration between their armed forces and agreed to explore further avenues to deepen strategic and security ties.
Trade and Investment Focus
Economic diplomacy featured prominently during the visit. In meetings with Qatari officials and business leaders, Prime Minister Shehbaz encouraged increased Qatari investment in Pakistan across sectors such as:

A delegation from the Qatar Businessmen Association also met the Prime Minister, reaffirming private-sector interest in expanding business-to-business collaboration. The discussions highlighted the complementarity of the two economies and the shared objective of sustainable trade growth.
Invitation and Future Engagements
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally invited Sheikh Tamim to visit Pakistan, an invitation that was accepted with enthusiasm. The visit is expected later this year and is anticipated to further consolidate high-level engagement between Islamabad and Doha.
The series of meetings underscores the comprehensive and multi-layered nature of Pakistan–Qatar relations, spanning political dialogue, economic cooperation, defence collaboration, and regional security coordination.
