Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Anwar Ibrahim to discuss Pakistan’s growing role in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran.
During the discussion, PM Shehbaz briefed his Malaysian counterpart on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and reducing tensions in the region. The conversation highlighted Islamabad’s active engagement with regional and global stakeholders to encourage constructive dialogue.
Both leaders also exchanged warm greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and expressed prayers for unity, peace, and progress across the Muslim world. PM Shehbaz appreciated Malaysia’s support for Pakistan’s mediation initiative and acknowledged its positive role in promoting regional stability.
Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Pakistan’s offer to host negotiations between the United States and Iran, describing it as “timely and constructive.” He emphasized that Pakistan’s strong diplomatic ties with both sides position it as a credible mediator capable of facilitating meaningful peace talks.
The leaders also discussed ongoing consultations with other countries, reflecting a broader international effort to de-escalate tensions and avoid further conflict in the Middle East. These diplomatic engagements underline the importance of cooperation and dialogue in addressing global security challenges.
