The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced daily protests outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Islamabad, urging authorities to ensure a comprehensive medical check-up and proper healthcare for its jailed leader, Imran Khan.
According to official party instructions, all PTI lawmakers from the National Assembly, Senate, and provincial assemblies have been directed to attend the demonstrations starting February 23. Members unable to participate must provide written explanations. The party describes the protests as a necessary step to highlight serious concerns regarding Khan’s health.
Imran Khan has remained in custody since August 2023 in connection with multiple legal cases. Recently, concerns about his well-being — including reports related to his eyesight — have intensified public discussion. PTI leaders argue that government-issued medical reports lack credibility and insist that his personal physicians be allowed to conduct a full medical examination.
The party’s demands also include expedited hearings of pending cases, access to family visits, and improved medical facilities. PTI has specifically mentioned the possibility of transferring Khan to Shifa International Hospital for advanced medical care if necessary.
Senior party figures have joined the sit-ins to demonstrate solidarity and keep public attention focused on the issue. PTI maintains that continuous public pressure is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in matters concerning their leader’s welfare.
Through these daily protests, PTI seeks to secure what it calls fair treatment and proper healthcare for Imran Khan while he remains in custody, underscoring the party’s ongoing political confrontation with the government.
