Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa Passes Away in Lahore at 90

Veteran politician Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa has passed away in Lahore at the age of 90, his family confirmed.

According to family sources, Khosa had been undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Lahore for some time before his death. His passing marks the end of a long and influential political career spanning several decades.

Born on October 20, 1935, Khosa was the son of Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa. He received his early education at Queen Mary’s College and later studied at Aitchison College in Lahore.

He was also the 21st recognized chief of the Khosa tribe, a prominent Baloch tribe with a presence across Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh.

Khosa entered politics in 1962 when he was elected as a member of the West Pakistan Assembly at just 26 years of age, becoming one of the youngest members at the time. Over the years, he built a strong political career and was elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab for nine consecutive terms without defeat — a remarkable achievement in Pakistan’s political history.

Throughout his career, he held several key ministerial portfolios, including education, irrigation, finance, planning and development, and local government. He also served as a senior minister and adviser, playing a significant role in shaping provincial policies.

Known as a prominent political figure from Dera Ghazi Khan, Khosa remained actively involved in mainstream politics and maintained a strong influence in southern Punjab.

His death marks the end of an era in Punjab’s political landscape, where he was widely respected for his experience, leadership, and long-standing public service.
