Pakistani Freelancers’ Earnings Jump 45% to $176 Million in July

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani freelancers recorded strong growth at the beginning of the new financial year as their export earnings increased by 45% in July 2026, according to official data.

Freelancers earned $176 million in foreign exchange during July, compared with $121 million in the same month last year. The figures represent an increase of $55 million in one year.

The latest data also shows month-on-month growth. Pakistani freelancers earned $164 million in June 2026, meaning their earnings increased by $12 million in July.

The rise follows a record performance by Pakistan’s freelance sector during the previous financial year. Freelancers generated $1.76 billion in export revenue during fiscal year 2025-26, marking the highest annual earnings recorded by the sector.

Official figures show that freelance export earnings increased by 78% during FY2025-26, compared with $985 million recorded during fiscal year 2024-25.

The sector has expanded significantly over recent years. Freelancers earned $505 million in FY2023-24, compared with $364 million in FY2022-23.

The continued increase highlights the growing role of Pakistan’s digital services and freelance economy. Pakistani professionals are increasingly providing services to international clients through online platforms, generating valuable foreign exchange for the country.

The growth also reflects the increasing importance of remote work and online services in Pakistan’s economy. Freelancing provides opportunities for professionals to work with clients around the world without being physically present in international markets.

The latest July figures suggest that Pakistan’s freelance exports have maintained their upward trajectory into the new financial year, following the sector’s record performance in FY2025-26.
