Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has officially joined Trent Rockets for the 2026 edition of The Hundred, strengthening the franchise’s pace attack ahead of the tournament, which will run from July 21 to August 16.
Trent Rockets confirmed the signing in an official statement, announcing that Amir will replace England fast bowler David Payne, who is continuing his recovery from an ankle injury.
The franchise said, “Fast bowler Mohammad Amir will replace David Payne, who continues his recovery from an ankle injury. We wish David all the best in his recovery.”
Expressing his excitement after the announcement, Amir said he was delighted to join the Nottingham-based side.
“I’m happy to be part of Trent Rockets,” the experienced left-arm pacer said after his signing was confirmed.
This will be Amir’s fourth appearance in The Hundred, having previously represented London Spirit and Oval Invincibles in earlier editions of the tournament. Across his previous campaigns, the 34-year-old played eight matches and claimed six wickets, bringing valuable experience to the Rockets’ bowling lineup.
Amir will also be joined by other Pakistani cricketers in this year’s competition. Abrar Ahmed will represent Sunrisers Leeds, while Usman Tariq has signed for Birmingham Phoenix after being picked for £140,000 (approximately PKR 53.2 million) during the player draft.
Several other Pakistani stars, including Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Saim Ayub, remained unsold during this year’s auction, making Amir’s signing another significant boost for Pakistan’s representation in England’s 100-ball tournament.
With his experience in franchise cricket around the world, Trent Rockets will hope Amir can play a key role in their quest for The Hundred 2026 title.
