A special anti-corruption court in Sahiwal has acquitted Khawar Farid Maneka and his son Musa Maneka in a case related to the alleged encroachment and construction on cemetery land in Haveli Lakha.
The verdict was announced by Special Judge Anti-Corruption Sahiwal Masood-ul-Hassan, who cleared both accused after completing proceedings in the case. Khawar Maneka and Musa Maneka were present in court when the judgment was delivered.
According to the court order, both Khawar Maneka and Musa Maneka were acquitted of the charges. However, the court declared Khawar Maneka’s other son, Ibrahim Maneka, a proclaimed offender and directed authorities to arrest him.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment had registered the case around three years ago over allegations of illegal occupation and construction on land belonging to the Haveli Lakha cemetery. The matter remained under trial before the special anti-corruption court.
With the latest ruling, legal proceedings against Khawar Maneka and Musa Maneka have concluded in this case. However, the case will continue against Ibrahim Maneka following his declaration as a proclaimed offender.
Khawar Farid Maneka, the former husband of former first lady Bushra Bibi, had been facing the case alongside his family members. The matter attracted public attention due to the involvement of well-known personalities.
The court’s detailed judgment is expected to provide further insight into the evidence and legal reasoning that led to the acquittal of Khawar Maneka and Musa Maneka.
