ISLAMABAD: Heavy rainfall in the federal capital has prompted the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and District Administration to mobilise joint teams to manage drainage, waterlogging and traffic-related issues.
Field teams are continuously monitoring drains, drainage channels, underpasses, low-lying areas and other vulnerable locations to prevent rainwater accumulation and minimise disruption to traffic.
Authorities have directed officials and field staff from the CDA, MCI, District Administration, Islamabad Water and Rescue services to remain present in the field throughout the ongoing spell of rain. Departments have also been instructed to maintain close coordination and respond quickly to emergencies and situations that could affect public safety.
A zero-tolerance policy has been adopted towards negligence or delays in clearing accumulated rainwater. Teams are carrying out drainage operations at vulnerable points while monitoring locations considered more likely to experience waterlogging.
Officials said the joint response is aimed at keeping traffic moving smoothly and providing timely assistance to residents affected by the heavy rainfall.
The CDA and District Administration have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain. Residents have also been urged to stay away from low-lying areas, underpasses and other locations where water may accumulate.
Motorists have been advised to drive carefully, follow traffic instructions and avoid routes affected by waterlogging.

Officials said all relevant departments remain fully mobilised and are closely monitoring the situation to ensure timely drainage, safe traffic movement and maximum relief for residents during the ongoing rainfall.
