The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested a suspected human trafficker from Gujranwala who was wanted in at least 16 cases and had been declared an absconder for years.
According to FIA officials, the accused, identified as Shahbaz Ahmad from Noshehra Virkan, had been involved in human trafficking activities since 2010. His name had also been proposed for inclusion in the agency’s red book due to the seriousness of his alleged crimes.
Authorities stated that the suspect defrauded victims by promising overseas employment, including sending individuals to countries like Italy. In one case, he reportedly took Rs1 million from a complainant but provided fake visas of Serbia and Indonesia instead.
Officials further revealed that victims were allegedly subjected to physical abuse, unlawful confinement, and inhumane treatment. In some cases, the accused and his associates reportedly demanded ransom from victims’ families for their release.
In a separate operation in Lahore, FIA officials arrested two individuals involved in illegal financial activities, including hawala, hundi, and unauthorized currency exchange. The suspects were taken into custody during a raid in Eden City.
Authorities recovered approximately Rs9.15 million during the operation and registered a case against the accused. These actions highlight FIA’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and financial crimes across Pakistan.
