Petrol price increased by Rs13.18 per litre, diesel up by Rs13.80 in Pakistan

The federal government has announced a significant increase in petroleum prices, raising the cost of petrol by Rs13.18 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs13.80 per litre amid renewed uncertainty in global oil markets.

Following the latest revision, the price of petrol has increased to Rs310.71 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now cost Rs323.30 per litre. The revised prices came into effect from midnight on Friday.

According to the government, the increase reflects fluctuations in international crude oil prices triggered by rising geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran, which have affected global energy markets.

The latest adjustment comes after several weeks of declining fuel prices in Pakistan. Earlier, the government had reduced petrol prices by Rs74 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs67 per litre following improvements in international oil markets. Last week, authorities had also announced a further reduction of Rs1.97 per litre for both fuels.

Officials said recent instability in the Middle East has reversed the downward trend, forcing an upward revision in domestic petroleum prices. The government continues to monitor global market conditions and will review fuel prices in line with international oil trends and exchange rate movements.

The increase is expected to impact transportation costs, inflation, and the prices of essential goods across the country, as fuel remains a key component of Pakistan’s economy.
