Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory, on Monday condemned the recent “Israeli air strikes” on the Gaza Strip.
“Israeli latest raids on the Gaza Strip are illegal and immoral,” Albanese said in an interview, adding that Israel violates the UN laws because it enjoys impunity and protection for its crimes.
Albanese criticized the US statements following the Israeli escalation on Gaza, which stressed that Israel has the “right to defend itself,” asserting that the Israeli deliberate killing of Palestinian civilians has reached a shameful level.
She called for lifting the Gaza siege and ending the occupation, confirming that the international community and the United Nations should assume their responsibility and prosecute Israel for its crimes against the Palestinian people.
