The District Education Officer (Female) in Upper Dir has recommended the temporary closure of 18 girls’ schools for one week due to security concerns in areas close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The recommendation seeks to suspend educational activities from August 15 to August 22 as a precautionary measure to protect students and teaching staff. The schools are located in areas considered vulnerable amid the prevailing security situation.
The deputy commissioner of Upper Dir has clarified that the proposed closure has not yet been formally approved. The district administration is expected to review the security situation before making a final decision.
The recommendation comes as security operations continue in parts of Upper Dir, including Dobando, where police have reportedly been engaged in an armed confrontation with suspected militants.
