KARACHI: A fire broke out at the headquarters of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), causing extensive damage to the office of Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
According to KMC officials, the fire erupted in a kitchen located next to the mayor’s office. The flames and intense heat subsequently spread to the adjoining office, leaving the mayor’s office completely gutted.
Fire brigade teams responded promptly after receiving information about the blaze and reached the KMC headquarters to begin firefighting operations. The teams managed to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to other sections of the building.
Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident. There were also no reports of deaths or serious injuries among KMC employees or other people present at the headquarters when the fire broke out.
The incident has raised concerns about fire safety arrangements at the KMC headquarters, one of Karachi’s key municipal administrative facilities.
