A Kasur fake robbery case has taken an unusual turn after police arrested a young man who allegedly shot himself in the leg to stage a false robbery and avoid giving his salary to his family.
According to police officials, the accused, identified as Adnan, had recently received his salary but reportedly wanted to keep the money instead of handing it over to his family. Investigators believe he planned to use the money to buy a new mobile phone.
Police said Adnan allegedly devised an elaborate plan to fake a robbery. To make the incident appear genuine, he reportedly shot himself in the leg before claiming that unidentified robbers had intercepted him, stolen his salary and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The complaint initially appeared to be a case of armed robbery, prompting police to launch an investigation into the alleged attack.
However, investigators said inconsistencies in Adnan’s statements raised suspicion. Officers reviewed the available evidence, questioned the complainant and examined the circumstances surrounding the reported crime.
According to police, the investigation ultimately revealed that no robbery had taken place and that the gunshot wound was allegedly self-inflicted as part of the staged incident.
During the investigation, authorities also arrested three of Adnan’s friends. Police allege the men provided the firearm used in the incident and are investigating their role in planning and facilitating the fake robbery.
Officials said the suspects could face legal action for filing a false report, misleading law enforcement authorities and unlawfully facilitating the use of a firearm.
Police emphasized that staging fake crimes wastes valuable public resources and diverts officers from responding to genuine emergencies. Authorities urged citizens to provide accurate information and cooperate honestly during criminal investigations.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue collecting evidence and recording statements before completing legal proceedings against all those allegedly involved in the case.
