LAHORE: Lahore Zoo has expanded its wildlife collection with the arrival of 29 new animals from five species, increasing its total population of animals, birds and reptiles to 755.
The new arrivals include five Burchell’s zebras, two Arabian oryx, 10 mouflon sheep, three hog deer and nine spotted deer. With the latest additions, the zoo’s recorded number of species has increased from 112 to 116.
Lahore Zoo Director Dr Ghulam Rasool said the new animals would contribute to greater species diversity while enhancing the educational and recreational experience for visitors.
He said the zoo administration had made arrangements to provide the newly arrived animals with appropriate food, healthcare and welfare facilities to ensure their well-being.
Lahore Zoo remains a popular destination for families and children, offering visitors an opportunity to observe wildlife and learn more about different animal species.
Visitors welcomed the latest additions, saying the new animals would make trips to the zoo more engaging for children and provide valuable opportunities to learn about wildlife.
They also urged the zoo administration to continue introducing diverse and less commonly seen species and further expand its wildlife collection.
