The investigation into the Mir Raza death mystery has entered a crucial phase after Karachi police uncovered new evidence linking the victim’s final movements, financial difficulties and digital activity before his body was discovered in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
According to investigators, CCTV footage shows Mir Raza Ali leaving his shop near Bahadurabad at around 3:30am on July 29 after allegedly taking a security guard’s pistol from a drawer. He later returned home, where he reportedly left behind his car, smartwatch, house keys and Rs39,000 before booking an online taxi.
Police said Mir Raza left his residence at approximately 4:08am and travelled alone to Gulistan-e-Jauhar. CCTV cameras captured him walking in the area before his mobile phone was switched off near Johar Mor Hilltop around 4:22am. Authorities said he was dropped off in Block 2 at approximately 4:28am.
Investigators are still trying to determine whether Mir Raza was murdered or died by suicide. Officials say every possible angle is being examined as forensic analysis and CCTV reviews continue.
The investigation has also revealed a significant financial aspect. Sources claim Mir Raza was involved in cryptocurrency investments alongside his other businesses. His investment operations reportedly suffered heavy losses beginning in December 2025, with financial problems worsening in April 2026.
According to investigators, Mir Raza allegedly borrowed substantial amounts of money to cover investor losses, accumulating debts estimated between Rs50 million and Rs80 million. Police also learned that an overseas investor had reportedly invested Rs7.5 million but never received the promised returns.
Police have recorded statements from Mir Raza’s fiancée, who reportedly remained in contact with him until late on July 28. Investigators said she attempted to reach him repeatedly around 3:00am, making more than 40 unanswered phone calls and sending multiple messages.
Authorities further revealed that Mir Raza deleted his social media accounts before leaving home. He also reportedly transferred Rs250,000 to his father’s bank account before carrying the shop security guard’s pistol with him.
While investigators recovered the pistol holster from the location where the body was found, the firearm itself remains missing.
Another CCTV recording has become a key focus of the investigation. Police said a motorcycle was seen arriving near the crime scene at approximately 3:36am and remaining there for only 22 seconds before leaving. Investigators are examining whether the footage is connected to the case.
Police also recovered Mir Raza’s mobile phone after learning it had been discarded along University Road. The device was found by three labourers, who later handed it over to investigators after being traced by police.
Authorities continue to analyse CCTV footage, digital evidence and forensic material while working to identify anyone involved. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing and no final conclusion has been reached regarding the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death.
