Multan Teen Murder Suspect Reportedly Killed in Bahawalpur Police Encounter

The prime suspect in the killing of a 14-year-old boy in Multan was reportedly killed in an alleged police encounter in Bahawalpur early Wednesday, according to police officials. The suspect had reportedly escaped from police custody after his arrest in connection with the teenager’s death.

According to sources, Crime Control Department (CCD) personnel attempted to stop two men travelling on a motorcycle near Bahawalpur’s Northern Bypass. An exchange of gunfire followed, leaving the suspect dead. The circumstances surrounding the encounter have not been independently verified.

The development came a day after a Multan court granted police three days of physical remand of the suspect for investigation into the teenager’s killing. Police had reportedly requested a 14-day remand. The suspect was arrested on Monday and presented before Judicial Magistrate Saadia Aslam on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old boy was allegedly run over by a car in a private housing society in Multan. According to the FIR, the teenager worked for the suspects and was learning electrical work. His cousin told police that the boy had allegedly faced violence and threats before the incident.

CCTV footage reportedly showed the teenager running along a road as a car approached and appeared to chase him before striking him. The impact threw the boy towards the gate of a nearby house, where he died. Multan City Police Officer Akhtar Farooq said police were also conducting raids to arrest another suspect allegedly involved in the case.

A case was registered at the DHA police station in Multan on behalf of the state. The FIR named two suspects and included Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, concerning murder and acts committed with common intention. Police arrested one suspect, while the other reportedly escaped. The vehicle allegedly used in the incident was also taken into custody.
