Domestic Worker Steals Rs20 Million Worth of Antiques from Nawab Family Residence in Islamabad

A domestic worker has been arrested in Islamabad for allegedly stealing antiques and historic heirlooms worth around Rs20 million from the residence of Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, a member of the former Nawab of Bahawalpur’s family.

The theft took place at the prince’s residence in F-8/3, an upscale sector of Islamabad. According to police, the stolen valuables included a silver throne chair, silver ladders, bowls, gold plates, statues, gold items bearing the Bahawalpur state crest, a historic silver frame carrying the former state’s emblem, old muskets and swords.

Margalla police said the domestic worker was arrested and is being interrogated in connection with the case. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any of the stolen antiques have been recovered.

The incident comes as security measures have been increased across Islamabad, with law enforcement agencies conducting search operations and vehicle checks in different areas of the capital.

Authorities had earlier introduced mandatory electronic tags, or M-Tags, for vehicles in Islamabad to improve surveillance and record-keeping. The security measures were introduced amid broader concerns over crime and militancy in the federal capital.
