The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has extended its special fuel carriage notice for airlines operating to and from Pakistan until April 30, aiming to support uninterrupted flight operations amid ongoing regional challenges.
According to officials, the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) allows international airlines to carry larger quantities of fuel from foreign locations instead of relying solely on local supplies. The decision comes in response to continued operational concerns linked to the evolving situation in the Middle East and constraints in jet fuel availability.
The aviation sector has been facing logistical disruptions and supply chain challenges, particularly in fuel management. By extending this provision, the PAA is enabling airlines to better plan their operations and reduce the risk of delays or disruptions caused by fuel shortages.
Authorities stated that the extension is part of ongoing efforts to ensure operational stability and safety for airlines flying through Pakistani airspace. The measure also helps carriers manage uncertainties in fuel supply while maintaining regular flight schedules.
This move reflects the broader impact of geopolitical tensions on global aviation, where even indirect disruptions can influence operational decisions and logistics planning. The continuation of the fuel carriage facility highlights the importance of proactive measures in maintaining efficient airline operations during uncertain times.
Officials further emphasised that the arrangement is temporary but necessary under current conditions, and it will remain in effect until April 30 unless extended again depending on the situation.
