The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has issued an advisory for airlines and airport operations in Karachi due to expected adverse weather conditions, including dust storms and thunderstorms accompanied by rain.
According to the advisory, the weather situation is expected to remain unstable from June 16 to June 18, prompting aviation authorities to take precautionary measures to ensure safety and uninterrupted airport operations.
The PAA has instructed airlines and airport management teams to ensure full operational readiness during the forecast period. Parked aircraft have been directed to be moved to safe locations to prevent any potential damage caused by strong winds or storm activity.
Safety inspections at airport facilities are being carried out on a priority basis. The authority emphasized the importance of checking all electrical installations and cables to identify and address any faults or risks immediately, ensuring safe operational conditions.
In addition, the advisory highlights the need to keep airfield lighting systems fully functional. Ground infrastructure, including pits and other operational systems, must also remain in serviceable condition throughout the weather alert period.
The Pakistan Airports Authority has further instructed all relevant departments to closely monitor the evolving weather situation. Teams have been directed to stay alert and respond promptly to any emergency or operational disruption caused by changing weather patterns.
This precautionary alert reflects growing concerns over severe weather impacts on aviation safety, as authorities aim to minimize risks and maintain smooth airport operations in Karachi during the storm forecast period.
