Peshawar DC Suspends Officials Over Poor Cattle Market Arrangements

The Peshawar district administration has taken strict action against officials responsible for managing the Eidul Azha cattle market on GT Road after serious shortcomings were identified during an official inspection.

Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Sanaullah Khan, suspended three officials of the Livestock Department after expressing dissatisfaction with the arrangements made at the cattle market. The action came during a detailed visit to the site, where the deputy commissioner reviewed facilities provided for traders and visitors ahead of Eidul Azha.

According to officials, the inspection focused on cleanliness, security arrangements, drinking water supply, and other essential public facilities at the market. During the review, the deputy commissioner found several deficiencies and immediately ordered the suspension of the concerned officials for negligence in performing their duties.

In addition to the suspensions, Sanaullah Khan directed authorities to initiate a departmental inquiry against the officials involved. The move reflects the district administration’s efforts to improve public service arrangements and ensure better facilities for citizens visiting the cattle market during the Eid season.

Several senior officials accompanied the deputy commissioner during the inspection, including Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) Husaina Khan, TMO Chamkani officials, representatives from the Livestock Department, and other relevant departments involved in market management.

The GT Road cattle market is expected to witness heavy activity in the coming days as Eidul Azha approaches and thousands of buyers and sellers gather for sacrificial animal trading. Authorities are under pressure to maintain proper cleanliness, security, water supply, and organized facilities to avoid inconvenience for the public.

The suspension of officials highlights growing administrative scrutiny over cattle market management across different cities of Pakistan ahead of Eidul Azha. Officials have indicated that strict action will continue against negligence and poor management affecting public facilities.

The district administration aims to ensure that all arrangements at the cattle market meet required standards so that visitors, traders, and livestock handlers can carry out activities smoothly and safely during the busy Eid season.
