Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have intensified their political efforts to bring a no-confidence motion against Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, signaling a growing alliance between the two opposition parties in the city’s political landscape.
A key meeting was held at Idara Noor-i-Haq where senior leaders from both PTI and JI discussed their joint strategy, numerical strength in the City Council, and the roadmap for moving forward with the motion. The PTI delegation was led by Haleem Adil Sheikh, while JI was represented by Karachi chief Monem Zafar Khan and opposition leader Saifuddin Advocate.
Both parties expressed strong dissatisfaction with Mayor Wahab’s performance, calling his election controversial and highlighting worsening civic conditions in Karachi. Major concerns raised included water shortages, poor sanitation, and increasing traffic mismanagement, which they claim have severely affected the daily lives of citizens.
The opposition leaders emphasized that their objective is to improve governance and restore Karachi’s development trajectory. They also reviewed their current position in the City Council and discussed efforts to gain support from other political stakeholders to secure the required votes for a successful no-confidence motion.
This development reflects stronger coordination between PTI and JI as they attempt to challenge the current city leadership and address long-standing municipal issues. The coming days are expected to be crucial as both parties continue political consultations and finalize their strategy.
