35 Militants Killed in Operation Near Quetta, Section 144 Imposed Across Balochistan

Security forces carried out a major intelligence-based operation near Quetta, resulting in the killing of 35 militants and the arrest of at least three commanders, according to the Balochistan government.

The operation, which began on May 13, continued for four days in the Mangla Zarghoon Gar area, a mountainous region on the outskirts of the provincial capital. Officials confirmed that multiple militant hideouts and camps were destroyed during the operation, marking a significant step in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

The crackdown comes amid rising security concerns in Balochistan, where recent incidents included rocket attacks in Quetta and disruptions on key transportation routes. Authorities stated that pressure is increasing on militant networks and their facilitators, with continued operations planned to ensure stability.

In response to the security situation, the provincial government imposed Section 144 across Balochistan. The restrictions include a ban on public gatherings of more than four people, pillion riding, and the display of weapons. Additional measures prohibit tinted vehicle windows, unregistered motorcycles, and face coverings in public places to enhance identification and security monitoring.

The restrictions have been enforced for a period of 30 days under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, aiming to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order across the province.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has suspended several train services from Balochistan to other parts of the country for two days due to security concerns. Services such as the Jaffar Express will operate on limited routes, while other routes including Bolan Mail and Chaman Passenger remain suspended.

Officials emphasized that security forces remain on high alert and are fully prepared to respond to any threats, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and ensuring public safety.
