Authorities in Quetta have placed the city on high alert following a series of rocket attacks that struck multiple areas late Wednesday night, injuring three people and causing damage to residential properties.
According to officials, at least four rockets were fired from unidentified locations in the mountainous areas surrounding the city. The attacks targeted different neighborhoods, including Akhtar Mohammad Road, Mir Ahmed Road, Shanti Nagar, and Faqir Mohammad Road.
Deputy Inspector General Imran Shoukat confirmed that the rockets landed in separate parts of the city, damaging rooftops, solar panels, and other structures. One rocket exploded near a transformer on Mir Ahmed Khan Road, triggering a fire and injuring three individuals.
Security forces, including police and Frontier Corps personnel, responded immediately by cordoning off the affected areas and shifting the injured to hospital for treatment. Following the incident, a large-scale search operation was launched in nearby mountainous regions.
Officials reported that more than two dozen suspects have been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Helicopters have also been deployed to help identify the launch sites used in the attacks.
Babar Yousafzai, Adviser to the Home Department, stated that the situation is under control and that efforts are underway to trace those responsible.
The incident has led to heightened security measures across the city, with authorities aiming to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents. No group has claimed responsibility for the rocket fire so far.
The situation remains under close monitoring as law enforcement agencies continue their operations.
