Pakistan has achieved a proud milestone as Sardar Arsam Abbas, a cadet of the Pakistan Army, has been declared the overall best foreign military cadet at the prestigious Royal Military College Duntroon in Australia.
The award was presented during the passing out parade held in Canberra on May 5, recognising excellence in training, discipline, and leadership among international cadets. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), this honour is awarded to the highest-performing foreign cadet across all aspects of military training.
This achievement highlights the professionalism and dedication of Pakistan Army cadets, reflecting the high standards maintained in their training programs. It also marks the 14th time a Pakistani cadet has received this distinguished recognition at the Australian military academy.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Australian Army Chief Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of the Australian Defence Force. Pakistan’s high commissioner to Australia was also present at the event.
The ISPR noted that Pakistan and Australia share a strong and longstanding military relationship. Over the years, several Pakistani officers have served as instructors at the college, and dozens of cadets have graduated from the institution since 2009.
Among the past recipients is Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Selhria, who later embraced martyrdom in 2020. His name is inscribed on the memorial at the college, symbolising the enduring legacy of courage and sacrifice associated with Pakistan Army officers.
This latest recognition not only celebrates individual excellence but also strengthens Pakistan’s international military reputation and highlights the country’s continued contribution to global defence cooperation and training standards.
