The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has set a strict deadline of June 30 for the completion of all priority development schemes underway across the city. The decision reflects the agency’s efforts to accelerate infrastructure improvements and ensure residents receive timely relief before the arrival of the monsoon season.
The directive was issued by WASA Managing Director Saqib Raza during a high-level meeting convened to review the progress of ongoing development projects. During the session, officials and contractors were instructed to expedite work on major schemes and ensure that all assigned targets are achieved within the specified timeframe.
According to the WASA chief, three major development schemes being executed under the Chief Minister’s Package must be completed by the end of June. He emphasized that delays would not be tolerated and urged contractors to increase the pace of work without compromising construction standards.
To maintain transparency and ensure quality, consultant agencies were directed to closely monitor project execution and provide regular oversight throughout the completion process. The objective is to guarantee that public funds are utilized efficiently while delivering durable infrastructure improvements.
In addition to the Chief Minister’s Package, Saqib Raza ordered officials to finalize all priority projects being implemented under the Punjab Development Program before June 30. These projects include critical water supply and sewerage infrastructure upgrades designed to improve public services throughout Lahore.
A major concern discussed during the meeting was the condition of roads damaged during pipeline installation activities. The WASA Managing Director instructed officials to begin road restoration work immediately in areas where pipeline laying has already been completed.
He also ordered a comprehensive survey of streets affected by ongoing infrastructure projects to identify locations requiring urgent rehabilitation. The survey will help authorities prioritize restoration efforts and minimize inconvenience for commuters and local residents.
Separately, Deputy Commissioner Capt (retd) Nadeem Nasir stressed the importance of completing sewerage upgradation schemes as quickly as possible. He noted that timely completion of these projects is essential to provide relief to citizens and strengthen Lahore’s preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season.
The accelerated development drive highlights the government’s focus on improving urban infrastructure, enhancing drainage systems, and reducing the risks associated with heavy rainfall. Efficient completion of these projects is expected to contribute to better public services, improved road conditions, and increased resilience against seasonal flooding.
With the June 30 deadline approaching, all departments involved have been instructed to coordinate closely to ensure that the development schemes are completed on time and that Lahore residents benefit from upgraded infrastructure before the onset of monsoon rains.
