President Asif Ali Zardari conferred a total of 47 military awards on officers and personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces in recognition of their bravery, leadership, and distinguished service to the nation.
The awards were presented during a prestigious investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The event was attended by First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani, senior government officials, and the families of award recipients.
Among the honours, three personnel who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty were awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat posthumously. The recipients included Lt Col Muhammad Ali Shaukat Shaheed, Sepoy Soban Majeed Baloch Shaheed, and Sepoy Israr Muhammad Shaheed. These awards were given in recognition of their extraordinary courage and ultimate sacrifice for the country.
In addition, the president conferred the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) on 44 senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces. The award recognises exceptional professional performance and meritorious services rendered to the nation.
From the Pakistan Air Force, several senior officers including air marshals and air vice marshals were honoured for their leadership roles and contributions to operational readiness. Their efforts have played a key role in strengthening the country’s air defence capabilities.
A significant number of major generals from the Pakistan Army were also awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military). Their recognition reflects years of dedicated service, command excellence, and contributions to national security.
Similarly, senior officers from the Pakistan Navy, including rear admirals and the Director General Medical Services, were honoured for their distinguished service and commitment to excellence.
The ceremony underscored the state’s recognition of the sacrifices and achievements of military personnel across all branches. It highlighted the armed forces’ continued dedication to safeguarding the nation and maintaining high professional standards.
Officials stated that such awards not only honour individual excellence but also reinforce the values of courage, discipline, and service within the armed forces. The recognition serves as a reminder of the vital role played by Pakistan’s military in ensuring national security and stability.
