337 Indian Sikh Pilgrims Arrive in Lahore for Maharaja Ranjit Singh Death Anniversary

A second group of 337 Indian Sikh pilgrims arrived in Lahore through the Wagah Border to participate in the death anniversary commemorations of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The pilgrims received a warm welcome from officials of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), and the Punjab government upon their arrival.

Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs and PSGPC President Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said comprehensive arrangements had been made to ensure a comfortable and peaceful stay for the visiting pilgrims. He highlighted that accommodation, boarding, transportation, and other essential facilities had been organized to provide the best possible experience. He also welcomed the large participation of young Sikh devotees, describing it as a positive sign of their strong connection with their religious and cultural heritage.

ETPB Chairman Qamaruz Zaman said Pakistan remains committed to promoting religious tourism and interfaith harmony by providing a safe and welcoming environment for pilgrims from around the world. He added that the board continues to preserve and improve religious sites belonging to minority communities across the country.

Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq stated that extensive arrangements had been made, including security, transportation, accommodation, langar (community meals), medical facilities, clean drinking water, and emergency services. Rescue 1122 vehicles and ambulances have also been deployed to ensure the safety and convenience of all pilgrims during their stay.

Representatives of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee praised the arrangements made by Pakistani authorities. They thanked the Government of Pakistan for facilitating the pilgrimage and appreciated its efforts to promote religious freedom, cultural heritage, and interfaith harmony.

The main religious ceremonies commemorating the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh are scheduled to take place on June 29 at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore, where hundreds of Sikh devotees are expected to participate in prayers and religious gatherings.
