Dera Ismail Khan:
The situation took a new turn during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march when former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s convoy reached near Yarq Toll Plaza. However, containers and roadblocks stopped the convoy from moving forward.
The situation immediately raised a key question: What will Ali Amin Gandapur decide now? Will the convoy wait for the route to reopen, or will the PTI leadership announce a new strategy?
Following the blockade, security remained tight in the area. Instead of attempting to force its way through the barriers, Gandapur’s convoy turned back towards Dera Ismail Khan.
Is the Final Decision Still Pending?
According to Ali Amin Gandapur, Section 144 was in place, while the party leadership had directed workers not to take the law into their own hands. The convoy therefore did not attempt to cross the barriers by force.
However, Gandapur said workers were ready to join the long march again if the party leadership gave further instructions.
This has created another question: Is the roadblock only temporary, or could it affect the next phase of the long march?
One Convoy Stopped, Another Moved Forward
Meanwhile, the PTI convoy led by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi moved from Lakki Marwat and reached Karak. The announced schedule includes further movement towards Kohat, Peshawar and eventually Khairabad.
This has brought the movement of the different convoys into focus. Will all the convoys be able to move towards Islamabad together in the next phase?
What Happens Next?
Attention is now focused on the government and administration’s next steps, as well as the PTI leadership’s decision.
If the routes reopen, will Ali Amin Gandapur rejoin the long march? And if the roadblocks remain, what strategy will the party leadership adopt?
For now, the convoy has returned to Dera Ismail Khan. The next decision could determine what happens to Gandapur’s convoy in the coming phase of the long march.
