Militant Attack on Daraban Police Station in Dera Ismail Khan Causes Damage, No Casualties Reported

A late-night militant attack on the Daraban police station in Dera Ismail Khan created panic after attackers used rocket launchers and heavy gunfire, causing significant damage to the police facility and nearby commercial shops.

According to police officials, the assailants, identified as members of banned militant groups, launched a sudden and intense assault targeting the police station. The impact of rocket fire led to the collapse of parts of the boundary wall, while nearby shops and businesses also suffered damage due to the heavy exchange of fire.

Law enforcement personnel responded immediately, returning fire and successfully repelling the attackers. After a brief but intense gun battle, the militants fled the area. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Following the attack, security forces launched a search operation to track down the attackers and secure the surrounding area. Officials confirmed that additional police units were deployed to ensure safety and prevent further threats.

In a separate development, authorities recovered Iranian currency worth over Rs4.499 billion during a vehicle search operation in the suburban area. Two suspects were arrested and handed over to the FIA for further investigation.

Meanwhile, a crackdown on electricity theft was also carried out by Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), where illegal connections were removed, and strict warnings were issued against power theft.

The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in the region and underscores the need for continued vigilance and strong law enforcement action to maintain peace and stability.
