Islamabad Airport Gets New State Lounge Ahead of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has laid the foundation stone for a new state lounge at Islamabad International Airport as part of preparations for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. The facility is being developed to improve hospitality arrangements for visiting foreign dignitaries and government delegations.

According to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the new lounge will provide international-standard hospitality services for heads of state, senior officials and other distinguished guests expected to visit Pakistan for the summit.

The project aims to strengthen the airport’s capacity to receive important international visitors and facilitate official visits. The facility is also expected to improve arrangements for state-level protocol and provide a more organised reception for visiting delegations.

The Pakistan Airports Authority said the lounge would enhance the airport’s ability to provide high-quality hospitality services. Its establishment is part of broader efforts to upgrade facilities and improve arrangements at Islamabad International Airport ahead of the high-level diplomatic gathering.

With the new state lounge, authorities aim to provide better services for international delegations and strengthen the airport’s arrangements for official hospitality. The project reflects preparations to accommodate visiting dignitaries and government representatives during the SCO summit.
