Rail Operations Remain Halted As Jaffar Express Suspension Continues

Railway operations in parts of Balochistan remained suspended for a second consecutive day on Friday as authorities continued the suspension of the Jaffar Express between Quetta and Peshawar.

According to railway officials, the Jaffar Express scheduled to depart from Quetta to Peshawar did not leave on Friday due to the ongoing disruption in rail services.

Officials also confirmed that the Jaffar Express travelling from Peshawar towards Quetta would not complete its full journey and would instead return from Jacobabad.

Pakistan Railways authorities stated that train operations in several parts of Balochistan have been temporarily suspended because of unavoidable circumstances. However, officials have not yet provided a timeline for the restoration of normal rail services.

The disruption has also affected other railway routes, with authorities confirming that:

  • Bolan Mail services towards Karachi remain suspended
  • Chaman Passenger operations have also been halted

The continued suspension has caused difficulties for passengers travelling between Balochistan and other parts of the country, especially those commuting to and from Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.

Railway officials said further updates regarding the restoration of services would be issued after the situation is reviewed.

Pakistan Railways regularly operates several important passenger routes connecting Balochistan with major cities across the country, making the current disruption significant for both travelers and transport operations.
