Suspect Killed in Karachi Police Encounter, Accomplice Escapes

KARACHI: A suspected robber was killed while his alleged accomplice escaped during a police encounter in New Karachi’s Sector 11-I, according to police.

Police said officers attempted to stop and check two suspects travelling on a motorcycle in the area. The suspects allegedly opened fire at the police while trying to flee, prompting the officers to return fire.

According to police, an officer remained safe during the exchange because he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

One of the suspects sustained serious gunshot wounds during the retaliatory firing. Police arrested the injured suspect and shifted him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased suspect was identified as Miraj, alias Miri. Police said they recovered a weapon and the motorcycle from the scene.

The second suspect managed to escape during the encounter, and police are continuing efforts to trace and arrest him.

Police also said that Miraj’s brother, Mir Balaj, had previously been killed in a police encounter in Nazimabad in 2024.

According to police, their father, Ibrahim, had also died after falling from a height during a raid by law enforcement agencies.
