The governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh have officially announced four public holidays on the occasion of Eid ul Adha, extending the festive break from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29.
According to official notifications issued by both provincial governments, all government offices and public institutions operating under the provincial administrations will remain closed during the four-day holiday period to celebrate the religious festival.
The announcement provides an extended break for government employees and citizens in both provinces as preparations for Eid ul Adha continue across the country.
Earlier, the Cabinet Division of Pakistan had announced a separate three-day Eid holiday schedule for federal government employees. Under the federal notification, government offices operating under the federal administration will remain closed from Tuesday, May 26, to Thursday, May 28.
Meanwhile, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also declared a three-day bank holiday for May 26, 27 and 28. According to the SBP statement, all banking operations and official activities will remain suspended during the Eid holidays.
The central bank further confirmed that banks across Pakistan will resume normal operations on Friday, May 29.
Eid ul Adha, one of the most significant Islamic festivals, is expected to be observed across Pakistan on Wednesday, May 27. The day before Eid, Tuesday, May 26, will be observed as Youm-e-Arafah, an important occasion for Muslims worldwide.
The announcement of extended holidays is expected to increase travel activity across the country as families prepare to celebrate Eid with relatives and loved ones. Citizens are advised to complete banking and official matters before the holiday period begins.
