Metro Bus Catches Fire Near Sixth Road Station In Rawalpindi

A Metro bus operating on the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus route caught fire early in the morning near the Sixth Road Metro Station in Rawalpindi, causing temporary suspension of Metro bus services in the area.

According to rescue officials, the fire broke out while the bus was parked or stationary near the station. Fortunately, no passengers or staff members were present inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, preventing any injuries or loss of life.

Emergency rescue teams and firefighters responded quickly after receiving reports of the fire. Rescue officials managed to bring the blaze under control after a timely operation; however, the Metro bus was completely destroyed in the incident.

Following the fire, authorities temporarily suspended Metro bus services on the Islamabad–Rawalpindi route to ensure public safety and allow emergency teams to conduct rescue and clearance operations. Traffic in nearby areas was also affected as officials worked to secure the site and manage congestion.

Metro management later arranged for the damaged vehicle to be removed from the Metro track and surrounding area. Officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the fire. However, the reason behind the incident has not yet been officially confirmed.

The incident has raised concerns regarding maintenance standards, technical inspections and overall safety procedures within the Metro bus system. Citizens and commuters have expressed worries about passenger safety and the condition of public transport vehicles operating on major routes.

Authorities stated that despite the destruction of the vehicle, no casualties occurred, and operations are expected to resume after safety assessments and clearance procedures are completed.
